The inspiration to write a CD like this is a simple matter of living for the guys in Polaradio. In an environment where writing new material is an ongoing process, inspiration comes as a matter of instinct - their observation of the world around them. It's more a issue of timing than anything. After a year of playing a set of around 30 songs that had been written over the course of the previous 10 years, it was time to get some new material to the stage. Discussion began in May of 2008. By July they had set some target dates and by late September the CD set list was decided and the final recording sessions were scheduled. The master was completed in early November.
The recording of this CD took place over a period of around four months in several different studios in and around Colorado Springs, CO. Buzz recorded his parts in his home studio. David's work was recorded in his studio, which is also the location of the band's weekly rehearsals. Dwayne and Frank also recorded their parts here. While, Dusty, the band's producer, finished his recordings and did the mastering in his studio.
The studio equipment is mostly digital, with the exception of vocals and some drum parts. It was recorded in ProTools and Sony Acid. The drums were triggered using BFD Deluxe. Guitars were recorded in stereo with one 'clean' channel and one effects channel, then later mixed. Their hope is for a fully-equipped studio - but until then, they'll just have to deal with all the complements.
